ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What was your first thought when YouTube said they wanted to release the show to Sony?
For the three of us it was not an entire surprise to get that call.

Were thankful that she and the team at YouTube allowed us to do that.
Its been reported that there was a lot of competition among streamers to land the show.
What was that shopping process like?
And everything just kind of came to a screeching halt for a moment there.
We started having real meetings in public, and they became Zoom meetings by the end.
It went from, Are we going to have one or two platforms interested?
to Oh, theres a whole lot of people and a whole lot of places jockeying for this show.
What made Netflix the right home forCobra Kai?
We just felt the love in the room.
Why did we choose YouTube the first go around?
It hits all their demos.
They saw the potential in that and just went with it.
HURWITZ:Weve always felt that there was a huge untapped audience forCobra Kai.
We always felt like ifCobra Kaiwas on the biggest stage, it would perform well on that stage.
In our experience, if you giveCobra Kaia chance, you typically likeCobra Kai.
So were now going to get to experience what its like when pretty.
Much everybody has access toCobra Kaias opposed to having to go through a paywall.
What was the casts reaction when you told them about the move to Netflix?
Once the deal closed, we got on Zoom with everybody.
[laughs] It was really nice to be able to get together with everybody in that format.
In your statement you say you plan to explore opportunities to further expand the Karate Kid universe.
What does this mean?
Will there be more spin-offs?
We treatKarate KidlikeBreaking Bad, and our show is like theBetter Call Saul.
Theres nothing no official thing in the works.
Can you narrow that down for us a bit?
HURWITZ:We dont have any details in terms of the release.
So thats something that takes a little bit of time.
Its all with the design of expanding that fanbase an amazing viewer experience to the widest number of people.
Every decision Netflix is with the future of the series in mind.
Were just excited to find out what their plans are.
Last time we spoke, you said season three is about rebirth and rebuilding.
What else can you tease about that?
But I will say that season three is our biggest season yet by far.
Everyones in for big surprises and big answers.
