Johanna Lindsey, the prolific and influential romance writer, has died.
Many of Lindsey’s novels toppedThe New York Timesbestseller list.
Her final novel,Temptation’s Darling,hit shelves in July.

She even branched into science-fiction romance with novels set on the fictional planet of Kystran.
Her family eventually settled in Hawaii, and she married Ralph Bruce Lindsey in 1970 while still in school.
After her husband’s death, Lindsey moved to New England.
