Does Nick Fury wash his eye-patch?

and Is there a point to Hawkeye?

Marvel had an interesting 2017.

But we think they make an interesting thematic pair.)

Did you feel the same excitement watching the web-slinger in his first MCU movie?

What do you love most aboutHomecoming?

Michael Keaton

Chuck Zlotnick/Columbia Pictures

DEVAN COGGAN:RewatchingHomecomingmademe remember how much I love it.

Itisstrange to have Peter Parker in an MCU movie, isnt it?

Before the MCU made superheroes like Black Widow and Hawkeye Hawkeye!

Tom Holland

Columbia Pictures

into household names, Spidey was easily Marvels most well-known property.

A decade later, and Peter Parker isnt even the biggest superhero in his own movie!

Just look athow big Robert Downey Jr.s face was on theHomecomingposter!

THOR: RAGNAROK

Marvel Studios

There are no giant portals swirling above the Manhattan skyline or evil aliens hellbent on world domination.

Its a lovely character arc, and its emphasized by Tom Hollands completely charming and believable teenage performance.

YEAH, I SAID IT.)

Things are always more interesting when theyre personal.

Also,Homecomingis just a hell of a lot of fun.

I love the John Hughes high school vibe!

I love the distinct Queens-iness of it all!

What do you think, Chance?

Do you think Spideys first MCU solo movie works?

CHANCELLOR:Oh, Devan, I agree with most of that!

While watchingHomecomingthis week, I was also struck by how old school it feels.

Like theres a scene where Peter is run-tripping through an alley as he tries to put his costume on.

But here, the down-to-earth-ness is part of the movies charm.

I could go on, but I dont want this paragraph to just become one long list.

It feels like theyre passing on the torch to the MCUs next generation of heroes.

As you mentioned, Adrian Toomes hates the Tony Starks of the world.

Adrian reminds us that Tony built most of his wealth from arms dealing.

Devan, do you agree that there are some similarities between the two villains?

Also, how do you feel about Hela as a Big Bad in general?

DEVAN:I loveThor: Ragnarok.I love it so much.

Its pure anarchy, and its also a total delight.

I think your comparison between the two villains inHomecomingandRagnarokis spot-on.

I mean, been there, seen that.

Im also interested to know how you feel about Thor inRagnarokafter rewatching all of his earlier appearances.

The Thor of earlier appearances is a privileged prince, a Shakespearean frat boy.

What do you think of Thors evolution, and howThor: Ragnaroksets up the next phase of the MCU?

InThor, hes this impulsive, fisticuffs-loving jock who made an unjustified pre-emptive strike on the Frost Giants realm.

Then,Thor: The Dark Worldopens with Thor waging war for bring order to the Nine Realms.

Here, however, Thor isnt Asgards enforcer.

Furthermore,Thor: Ragnarokjust gives him more human moments.

While I love almost everything aboutRagnarok, Thompsons cheeky performance is what stayed with me the most.

RagnarokandHomecomingare very similar movies in that they both provide hints for where the MCU can go from here.

The same can be said ofBlack Panther, which came out after those two films in 2018.

Taken together, do these three films give you hope for the future of the MCU afterAvengers 4?

If so, why or why not?

DEVAN:Valkyrie forever.

Give Valkyrie her own movie, her own franchise, anything she wants.

Make the title of the next Avengers movieAvengers 4: Valkyrie, Featuring Taika Waititi as Korg.

But as far as whats next?

Plus, Marvel has now assembled a new generation of heroes who are just a blast to be around.

Black Panther, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Okoye, Falcon…

These are all headlining heroes who audiences want to spend more time with.

After 10 years, Marvel is still a long way off from running out of steam.

Avengers: Infinity Warisnow in theaters.
