The title is a racist slur often used against black people who’ve faced police brutality.

People also criticized the artist for appearing in pastracist video chats.

“I want to address whats been happening on Twitter, she wrote.

“Ive used public chat rooms to socialize since I was a child.

Im sorry to everyone I offended.”

“Im a black woman.

It was written in response to people who often used that term to hurt me.

“I understand my influence and impact and Im taking this all very seriously.

I love you all and Im sorry for upsetting or hurting any of you,” she wrote.

“Thats not my character, and Im determined to show that to everyone moving forward.

The musician, whose “Say So” remix withNicki Minajrecently reached No.

1 on the Billboard charts, haspreviously apologizedfor old offensive remarks.
