Star Trek: Discoveryis adding two castmembers that promise to break new ground for the sci-fi franchise.
The series is set to introduce the 54-year-old saga’s first transgender and nonbinary characters.
The character is described as “highly intelligent with a confidence and self-assurance well beyond their years.”

They will find a new home on theU.S.S.
Discoveryand “form an unexpected bond with Lt.
Commander Paul Stamets (Anthony Rapp) and Dr. Hugh Culber (Wilson Cruz).”
