Im gonna give some SPOILER-LADEN thoughts of my own after the jump.
Me, I thought it was good.
Very good, even.
(Though we did get a handy red-shirt to take one for the team.)
In that regard, Im really surprised that Capt.
Pike survived: He seemed ready-made for the mentor-who-dies-so-the-hero-can-move-on role (see: Obi-Wan Kenobi).
But if the filmmakers had any huevos, theyd have killed off Old Spock.
After all, Spock died in the bestTrekmovie ever…you dont mess with what works.
But it was not Starfleet Babies.
And for that, Im eternally grateful.
