Back in reality, Rowena is preparing to pop kick open the rift.
She has all the ingredients…well, sort of.
The rift closes seconds after she opens it.
YES, Gabriel and Rowena have sex.
No, Im not sure how Im ever going to look at the library the same way.
Cut to Lucifer drinking bottle after bottle alone at a bar.
Poor Lucy doesnt feel like anything matters anymore.
Thats when the bartender tells him that Jack will come around.
Only Lucifer didnt ever mention Jacks name.
Just then, Lucifer nearly falls off his barstool.
Ive never loved his tricks more.
Put me out of my misery, go ahead, he tells his brother.
But instead, Gabriel knocks him out and takes him back to the bunker.
Hes their grace on tap, as Gabriel puts it.
Then, when they return, they can kill him.
Apparently she doesnt have a spell to shut him up?
More on that in a moment.
(Theres a sentence I never thought Id write.)
Meanwhile, Dean wants to know why Sam suddenly seems happier in Apocalypse World.
For Sam its simple: Theyve been working all season to get here and save mom and Jack.
Now it finally feels like its all within reach.
But compared to the vampires theyre used to dealing with, this one was on monster steroids.
And what happens when monsters dont have food?
Furthermore, the Apocalypse Worlders tell the boys that they, too, were headed to Dayton.
Plus, theyve never shied away from a vampires nest.
So with a promise to protect their new friends, they head to the tunnel.
Mostly because not everyone makes it out alive.
ARE YOU READY FOR THIS?!
I mean, he rips out his neck.
Castiel gets to Sam first, and hes the one to stop Dean from seeing his brother.
Hes gone, Castiel tells Dean.
We dont have time.
Dean, we cant save him.
And just like that, Dean turns and leaves the tunnel without his brother by his side.
Look, death is nothing new for this show.
Sam dying isnt even new to this show.
But I will say that I love that the thing that took Sam out wasnt Michael.
It wasnt some all-powerful archangel.
It was something as simple as a vampire, a monster that Sam has killed a million times.
And to have him scream Deans name while Dean watched?
But when Lucifer gets angry, he gets powerful.
Only, in doing so, she accidentally launches him into the Apocalypse World.
And when Gabriel burns it off, Mary walks out.
But he wont be crying for long.
Sam wakes up back at the tunnel and hes completely healed.
Lucifers the one that brought him back.
It seems that Lucifer ate a few of Michaels angel soldiers, replenished his grace, and resurrected Sam.
So yeah, hes kept himself busy since arriving in this world.
I want what everyone wants.
I want a personal apology from Pop, I want rerun-free year-round episodes ofDrag Race.
When Sam tries to walk out, hes greeted with a mob of hungry vamps at the door.
Lucifer is the only thing holding them back.
Now, all Sam has to do is acknowledge Lucifers good deed.
And if he says no, well, hell be killed by vampires…again.
But the look of relief on Deans face quickly changes when, behind Sam, Lucifer appears.
Hello, son, he says to Jack.
AND THEN THE EPISODE ENDS.
I cannot say enough about how excited that ending makes me about whats to come.
Im very much enjoying what Apocalypse World brings to the show.
I know it took a while for everyone to get here, but it was worth the wait.
The stakes feel higher than ever.
And Ive already cried twice.
Bring on the end of this season.
