Mitch’s misconduct is on full display in the flashback episode ‘Lonely at the Top.’

“Absolutely,” Fred replies, answering her unasked questions with unsaid words.
“People do fantastic work, and they get promotedthat is absolutely how it happens.”
So Hannah becomes head booker.
And Hannahwasdoing fantastic work as a junior booker, but for her the two things can never be connected.
This episode begins as so many others have, with an alarm clock going off at 3:30 a.m. As we’ve been told, Mitch is a flirt, with Alex especially.
“Because if you were wearing the dress, it means she would be naked.”
Right over the mic for everyone to hear.
“She’s a go-getter,” Mitch says causally to his makeup artist.
“You know what you did?”
“You made the show better on Fridaycategorically better.
So keep up the good work.”
And Mitch is soearnestwhen he says them.
On the eve of his 50th birthday, that self-obsession is taking a nose dive into self-pity.
“Maybe that’s it.”
From a character standpoint, it’s foreboding.
On the way, they talk about what it’s like to have this job.
“You just absorb stuff… that’s what makes you smart.
You really care about your job, and that’s why I wanted you here.”
Once again, how good would that feel?
It could certainly make you feel confused.
And as Hannah takes on all that grief and confusion, Mitch gets to unload his.
He sleeps soundly as she picks up her underwear afterward, staring blankly out into the hotel room.
Back at theTMSoffices, Hannah gazes absentmindedly at her computer, walks distractedly down the halls.
“So this is how it happens,” Hannah says.
Indeed it is, Fred tells her.
