Below, the actor discusses the premiere episode and whats in store this season.

I just know that Jamie is somebody who seemingly has it all.

He has a great life.

He has a beautiful wife, theyre expecting a child, theyve just moved back to the suburbs.

Hes got a great job.

And inside, he is a kettle about to boil.

He just has this complete disaffectation with society at large.

When I would read the scripts, I really didnt know what Jamie was going to do next.

I know youve been a fan of the series.

Are there a prescribed set of rules we should follow?

[Friedrich] Nietzsche and [Fyodor] Dostoevsky were a strong influence in the material.

Your homework is due tomorrow!

I have to pick up Dostoevsky now!Just doNotes From the Underground.

Its only like 120 pages long, or something.

You mentioned Ambrose a couple of times.

Jamie, in a different sort of way, feels trapped in his role as the suburban father-to-be.

Should fans be paying attention to these parallels?

Is that parallel between the characters something you talked about?Well, absolutely.

Its been teased that this seasons mystery marks the most dangerous and disturbing case of Ambroses career.

Can you give any broad strokes as to why this case is so dangerous? No.

I really cant give you any of the specifics, unfortunately.

Thats why its so hard to do press for a job like this.

Its the kind of deep dive that you hope for as an actor, the kind of multifaceted character.

You dream of those kinds of experiences as an actor.

I was lucky enough to talk to Carrie during filming as well.

Before you know it, you have a hard time differentiating.

I definitely had to burn some sage when this was done.

Its hard to discuss in depth too much about those.

In terms of your specific performance, one thing that stands out is your eyes.

Then he asks one of his students, Why do you look so scared?

Even though youre calm, your eyes felt so wild.

Do you have any tips to offer viewers moving forward this season?

Would you say the devil is in the details and there are clues hiding in the background?Yeah.

I cant speak to the entire season, but I think Derek has the entire thing structured.

And then wed meet again.

Obviously, things evolved as we shot.

But we dont always get the choice.

So you have to roll, you have to roll with it either way.
