This was definitely the most exposition-heavy episode of the series to date.

Now that the stories have been intertwined and the stakes have been upped Originals can compel other vampires?!

things are about to get interesting.

Caroline really should have offered to carry that large leather satchel Elena was lugging through the woods, right?

and wanting to keep the disgrace secret, they banished Katherine to England.

Thats why everyone thought the bloodline ended with Katherine.

She ran, with Trevors help.

Klaus needed Katherine because the curse was bound by a sacrifice of Petrova blood.

The doppelganger was created as a way to be able to undo the spell.

Once a doppelganger reappeared, the curse could be broken.

Katherine really is always one step ahead of everyone, isnt she?

It turns out Trevor was in love with her.

He wanted to keep her alive.

Katherine, however, didnt want to run for the rest of her life.

She stabbed herself and Rose had to feed her some of her blood so shed heal.

(Interesting pillow talk, Trevor.)

NEXT: Damon and Rose push each other around (in a totally hot way).

Katherine knew Klaus needed ahumandoppelganger.

She thought if she became a vampire, shed be free of him.

I was looking out for myself, Elena.

I will always look out for myself, she said.

If youre smart, youll do the same.

Unfortunately, Katherine didnt know that Klaus was a vindictive prick.

He wants her to pay.

Doesnt it feel like there should be a vamp equivalent to the moonstone?

Perhaps the Originals have that already… Just one thing, Damon said, shoving her against the wall in a parking garage.

Its something Im very good at.

(you’ve got the option to see his eyebrows raising, right?)

NEXT: Stefan smiles, drinks tea.

(Thats enough, isnt it?)

Damon wanted to know how they prevent either curse from being broken.

How do they render the moonstone useless?

Now, I know Im alwaysDamon!

Its because she reminds him of Lexi, his best friend.

It is sort of awkward to say, Well, shes dead.

Caroline kept her promise to Elena and refused to tell Stefan where she was.

He showed up at the tomb and told Elena not to believe anything Katherine said.

And even if its true, hell keep her safe.

Thats the problem, Elena said.

Hell die trying to save her from Klaus.

Thats what awaited everyone Elenas ever loved.

Unless Katherine gives them the moonstone.

I didnt get that: Wouldnt vengeful Klaus want them to die if they foiled his plan?

(Potty Mouth Stefan is as rare and hot as Smiley Stefan.

)Katherine told him he was flat wrong: She didnt want her freedom.

You could see it on his face.

NEXT: Damons dry spell comes to an end.

(And were not talking about him drinking booze straight from the crystal decanter.)

Damon was coming to grips with the reality of their situation as well.

Rose recovered quickly from her burns, but broke down into tears because she assumed it was Klaus.

Rose told him she was sorry they couldnt save Elena.

But Damon said he would.

Actually, I suspected that when she entered the room wearing a camisole.

And where did that get Trevor, Damon asked.

Dead, just like her loyalty almost got Rose.

Rose told Damon he was right to attempt to fight what he felt for Elena.

Caring about anyone gets you killed, they agreed.

She told him it was time to turn off his emotions.

He said he would, if she would.

She cant handle knowing that everyone is in danger because of her.

And when Elena cries, Mr. She said after a couple hundred years, you just have to pretend you dont care.

Usually, its the other way around.

That made me like Rose, knowing that she didnt really believe Damon should stop trying to save Elena.

Damon could hear the phone at her ear from where he was sitting.

Slater told them they could break the curse, but they needed to get their hands on the moonstone.

Then a witch should be able to help them.

But, we found out, originals are special.

NEXT: Slater winds up with troubles of the heart.

(Pretty server ones, at that.)

Elijah then compelled Slater to drive a stake through his own heart, because it was necessary.

Just when you think this show is done with the twists, theres always one more.

Was it really?, asked Jonas.

(So I guess Mystic Falls isnt that far from Richmond.)

Slater knew too much and was resourceful.

Do warlocks not count?

He has Jonas right there.

What does Elijah have over Jonas to make him help him?

Does Luka know what his dad is mixed up with?

Subtle Jonas felt immediately that Bonnie was a witch.

Luka admitted that he and his dad are warlocks and said they just want to fit in here.

We know the loner line works on Bonnie, and she and Luka kept talking while Jeremy played pool.

When Jeremy finally noticed Luka sitting with Bonnie, he laughed.

Hes back to where he started in season 1, competing for a girls affections.

But at least this one is worth it.

(No offense, Vicki.)

What did you think of the episode?

Whats your theory on Luka and Jonas?

Are you hoping Damon and Rose continue to comfort each other in front of the fireplace?

What should be Jeremys next play to woo Bonnie?

Did you expect Caroline to tell Stefan shed fessed up to Tyler?

(I didnt.)

If you could know one thing about Stefan, what would it be?

(Bon Jovi is touring.

He and Caroline could go.)

What do you think Katherines game is?

I dont believe she actually wants Elena to become a vampire.

Too simple, right?
