And what does that moment between Alpha and Carol mean moving forward?

When years pass, what goes on?
So there was this idea that, wouldnt they see things start to fall from the atmosphere after time?
And then obviously you follow that up with this training sequence.
And they said, We should train together.
This should be part of the pact now that all the communities are united again, lets work together.
Theyre actively working on becoming stronger as a community.
And its also playing on this idea of the intercommunity militia from the comic book.
Its part of the transition from satellite into the training.
Heres what theyre doing to attempt to fight that off.
That that all plays into the theme for the season.
Whats fun about working on the show is that theres no formula as to what an episode looks like.
Sometimes were in linear time, sometimes time is sitting on top of itself, sometimes we do flashbacks.
We do all kinds of things with timeline.
But, in the meantime, here are these slices of life.
So its just fun and experimental.
Theyre interesting on their own, but theyre also really interesting together.
They both have this aspect thats a lone wolf aspect to them.
Even when Daryl was off in the wilderness last season, he was still maintaining ties to the community.
Its just that it had been a long time and Carol felt him slipping away.
And then on top of that, she might be slipping away into something really dark.
Hes afraid that shes hunting Alpha.
She said thats not the case.
Well see whether or not thats true.
And obviously thats not the only interesting thing going on with Daryl this episode.
You know Im going to ask about Daryl and Connie.
Are they in a relationship?
I think what were showing is that they certainly have a blossoming friendship and connection.
This is just what the actresses did and we kept it in because it was such a fun moment.
Kelly sees Daryl coming up and Connies talking to him.
And she just gives that little eyebrow raise, like, Huh, whats going on there?
And then Connie responds by doing a Stop it, which I thought is really great.
Well,willthere be more story there for the season with those two?I cant spoil anything.
Youve just got to watch for that.
I think the audience and the characters are very much in the same place, is what Ill say.
The very last scene is Alpha and Carol locking eyes.
Alphas seeing Carol has crossed the border and Carol is seeing the woman who killed her adopted son.
That has consequences and that really sets up a lot of the main conflicts of the season going forward.
