“But with this character, I realized going into it, there is no justifying any of this.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: How did you get involved inUnhinged?
RUSSELL CROWE: I was passing through L.A., and the studio wanted a quick answer on the script.
I read it, and I was kind of revolted, to tell you the truth.
My first instinct was to just say “No,” and I did.
I worked out that I was afraid of it.
I was afraid of it because it holds so much truth.
This is that, but its not an AR-15, its a car.
What was the shoot like?
We were shooting in New Orleans.
It was the most chilled out set, man, just the most relaxing working environment.
So, I’ve got this sort of thing going on where theres a lot of strange energy around.
So, while it was a chilled set, there was also this other energy that was chasing around.
What was it like working with Caren Pistorius?
Your characters interact a lot in the film, but often while some distance apart.
It was old school.
Were already on the set and were still auditioning.
She was so watchable, with elements of a young Nicole Kidman or elements of a young Meryl Streep.
There was that stillness and you could read things in her eyes.
And I think thats what Caren has done with this role.
She’s built a career.
Now, sometimes Id be on the phone or sometimes theres a bit more connection.
But I think Carens done a superb job in the role.
What do you think aboutUnhingedbeing one of the first major releases since the start of the coronavirus outbreak?
