So, how did Cage wind up playing Nathan Gardner in this adaptation of the H.P.

I love that book.

Lovecraft was inspired by that book, and I admire many of Lovecrafts stories.

There was something about his writing style that I found visceral, and it appealed to my imagination.

In fact, I almost worked with him on a movie calledDust Devila million years ago.

Its not a color that exists on our spectrum.

I didnt find him rustyat all, Cage says.

I was more like, Lets go!

I wanted to get a flow and a rhythm.

I think he enjoyed that role, and I think he handled it in a perfect way.

Hes my favorite sort of director, in that he doesnt fix things that arent broken.

He lets the scenes find themselves, and he goes with them, and hes very supportive.

Does that mean Cage would be happy to work with Stanley again?

Oh, no doubt, no doubt, the actor says.

And thats an important thing for me.

Ive had that with other filmmakers.

I had it withPaul Schrader, I had it withPanos Cosmatos, I have it with Richard.
