We worked together on a couple of things previously.
Im a big admirer of him and his work.

So, thats how it came to be.”
Below, Blum talks Should Have Leftand the upcoming horror sequelHalloween Kills.
Did you have any doubts when David suggested shooting here?
JASON BLUM: No.
We were very open to that.
We had a great experience shooting there, by the way.
Its definitely the first movie weve shot in Wales.
But I was not daunted by that.
How did you find Avery Essex?
Terri Taylor runs our casting department, weve worked together for ten years.
We actually met onParanormal Activitywhen she was an executive at Paramount.
Shes just remarkable, particularly at finding unknowns and finding kids.
What are your favorite haunted houses in movies?
I loved the house inOculus.
We actually came on after, kind of likeParanormal Activity.
We helped it find a home and get distribution.
I was thinking about the house inYou Should Have Left.
Most haunted houses are either old or theyve got dark corners and they’re scary.
The houses inInsidiousare like that.
The house inSinisteris like that to a certain degree.
But whats unique aboutYou Should Have Leftis its contemporary.
The only other house thats [like that] is theParanormal Activityhouse.
In some way, thats scarier, because it feels like it could be your own house.
But I like both.
Would you like to seeYou Should Have Leftturn into a franchise?
Listen, Id love to make another one.
If enough people see it, well make another one.
What can you say aboutHalloween Kills?
Thats our hope, dream, and plan.
